Liz Barrett says Food Share Pilot Ready for Take-off

Liz Barrett has been working hard to set up a Food Share hub to serve the South Perth communities of Friarton, Moncreiffe and Craigie. The hub opens its doors for the first time on Monday 20th July.

Liz Barrett said. "Everything is ready for the new South Perth Community Food Share at Moncreiffe Community Hall in Glenlyon Road, our aim is to reduce food waste and help tackle food poverty. From next week it will be open on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 1100 to 1330. The South Perth Community Food Share is all about reducing food waste and protecting the environment. It is open to everybody, aiming to replicate the excellent Food Share projects operating in Letham, Tulloch and Muirton for the benefit of local residents.
The Community Food Share will provide food and produce, dental and sanitary products, and information about support networks. Local residents in Moncreiffe, Friarton and Craigie are invited to come and help, and to try out the Food Share during the 4 week pilot, which will identify whether this benefits the community, and how it can become a permanent service.
